SOME FAVOURITE PLACES

I really thought it would be a great idea to do this. Today has been beautifully clear and sunny yet dreadfully, bitterly windy. At least it is dry and bright. This is the first place I have lived where you can have 4 seasons in one day, so I like to make the most of the gooduns.

With crochet projects on my mind I was in Whitley Bay this morning. Made a beeline for what I think is one of, if not the best yarn shop in Tyne & Wear, 'Ring-A-Rosie'. I was quite, though I wouldn't extend to very, good....5 skeins of Noro Kureyon and 5 skeins of a wonderful Harris Tweed- Rowan DK. I'm going to crochet the 'Fun Circles Bag' by Mary Jane Hall from her wonderful book 'Positively Crochet!'. Hopefully, it will be a lovely Mothers Day gift for my Mum.

After Ring-A-Rosie, having burnt many calories umming & aahing over yarn choices, I pootled down the road to my favourite tea shop 'Charlottes' for a cup of tea and a bacon sandwich. Mm-mm-mmmmm.

Satisfactorily fortified, & well zipped up against the wind I wandered down to the beach for a sea glass expedition. I was pleased to have collected enough nuggets to complete what, in my minds eye, will eventually be my Whitley Bay Sea Glass Necklace. Will have to temporarily pop that idea into one of the many filing cabinets in my head....too many crochet projects on the go at the moment!

I love the sea. Just being near it seems to soothe my soul. I love to walk along the shore line, just pootling around pebble nests, sand puddles and rock pools. I spent a good hour on the beach today. It was bliss ( if one tried to block out the icy icy long fingers of wind alternately stroking my ears and slapping my face in great gusts at a time). It was no matter really. The sea pulls me in any weather.

Had a pleasant browse around the charity shops before I pootled back home. Not forgetting of course, a visit to my favourite caffeine supplier, Caffe Nero. Here is my friend Chris working hard behind the counter...

Of course, I couldn't do this blog without mentioning U Salon again (purveyor of the pedicure from yesterday's entry).
Finding a good hairdresser is like finding a dentist (few and far between, especially when you have hair as difficult as mine). I feel the same about beauty treatments too. Well, how fantastic for me that I've found great hairdressers & exceptionally good therapists at the U Salon. It has a really good vibe. Here is a pic of some of the team.

Hi I just read that you are going to make the Fun Circles Bag from my book Positively Crochet! It's sweet of you to comment on the book the way you did. Do we know each other from Ravelry? My ID is maryjane2. Also, I just tried to click on the link to my website and it says "not found". Maybe it's because it's Mary Janes Crochet - not Mary Jane Crochet?
I enjoyed reading your post!
Thanks!
